Alessandra de Rossi and Empoy Marquez starred in ‘Walang KaParis’ on March 16, with director Sigrid Andrea Bernardo recalling what it was like to have award-winning actress Dolly De Leon coach, Empoy Marquez.
At the media conference for ‘Walang KaParis,’ Bernardo highlighted how she wanted to challenge her actors in the film by having De Rossi and Marquez take on roles outside their comfort zones. She shared, “Nag workshop sila sa ating BAFTA nominee, Dolly De Leon. I think to level up ‘yun.”
The director added, “Gusto ko rin i challenge sila kung ano ba ‘yung capacity nila. Ako of course, kilala ko naman si Alex, ‘yung capacity niya. Pero ‘yun nga, ‘yung always breaking drama ‘yung ginagawa ni Alex, so tinanong ko nga– sa personal, sobrang komedyante siya, but iba pa rin sa screen. So, I’m very happy na pull off niya yun. And si Empoy naman, sa drama naman.”
Marquez on the other hand, joked about how much time he and De Leon spent honing his dramatic acting skills. The actor quipped, “Tabi kami lagi matulog, actually noong umuwi kami ng Pilipinas, pinapanaginipan ko pa rin siya. Sabay kami ng quarantine ng ten days, nag-aabutan kami ng pagkain.”
De Rossi recounted a funny experience wherein Marquez diffused the tension while filming their scenes with a ‘knock-knock’ joke for De Leon. She shared, “Nakakainis ‘yun, ‘yung na-hurt na nga si Miss Dolly dahil nga paulit-ulit. Sabi ni Miss Dolly, hawak-hawak niya ‘yung tubig ni Empoy at tsaka ‘yung cellphone, ‘Ano ba ako dito, yaya mo o acting coach mo? Hindi ka naman nakikinig sa akin. Sabi ni Empoy, ‘…Knock, knock!’ Sabi ni Miss Dolly, ‘Who’s there?’ ‘Dolly.’ ‘Dolly who?”Dolly can’t you see?’ Sabi ko, wala silang kwentang kausap pareho. Pag ako ni-knock knock mo ng ganon, ‘Pak, anong knock-knock?'”
As for their upcoming film, ‘Walang KaParis’ stars Alessandra de Rossi and Empoy Marquez.
Directed by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, under the co-production of Spring Films and Viva Films, ‘Walang KaParis’ streams on Prime Video starting March 23.
