Dolly de Leon lauded the success of ABS-CBN’s popular television show Dirty Linen, headlined by Janine Gutierrez and Zanjoe Marudo. She even made a brief appearance in the series premiere on January 23.
During an earlier Mega Style interview, De Leon praised the series for its potential to revolutionize the television drama genre in the Philippines.
“I really believe that ‘Dirty Linen’ is changing the landscape of how we make teleseryes. Ang ganda-ganda ng ‘Dirty Linen’ — from the way it’s written to the acting, the actors, the direction,” De Leon said on January 17.
“It gives me a lot of hope in the industry kasi this is really something I can be so proud of. And I’m not saying this dahil sa response sa social media ha. Pinanood ko eh. Ang ganda talaga. So, it’s really something to be proud of,” she added.
The pilot featured a scene where Olivia, portrayed by De Leon, was seen taking cover in a closet while conversing with her daughter, Alexa, played by Gutierrez. As Olivia concluded their conversation, an unknown individual fired a gun, hitting Olivia.
For her performance in the movie Triangle of Sadness, which was awarded Palme d’Or at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, De Leon has received multiple awards and accolades, including a nomination for the best supporting actress category in the 80th Golden Globe Awards.
In addition to her other achievements, De Leon was also recognized with the Best Actress in Supporting Role trophy at Sweden’s Guldbagge Awards. More recently, she was invited to attend the 95th Annual Academy Awards held in Hollywood, California, as Triangle of Sadness was nominated for three prestigious categories, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.
De Leon established herself in the movie industry, earning fame for her exceptional performances in several films, such as Verdict and Historya ni Ha.
She has also earned worldwide recognition for her outstanding portrayal in Triangle of Sadness, which was awarded the prestigious Palme d’Or trophy. Her exceptional performance in the movie made her the distinction of being the first Filipino actor ever to be nominated for the BAFTA and Golden Globe Awards.
