Entertainment columnist Cristy Fermin talked about Deniece Cornejo’s plan to appeal for a motion for reconsideration after the court dismissed the rape charges against Vhong Navarro.
In 2014, Deniece Cornejo filed a rape case against Vhong Navarro that got dismissed in 2018 and 2020. However, the Court of Appeals reversed the decision earlier in 2022.
On March 13, the Supreme Court junked the rape and acts of lasciviousness charges against Vhong Navarro.
There were talks that Cornejo’s team is preparing for a motion for reconsideration.
In Cristy Fermin’s episode of Showbiz Now Na on March 20, she said that Cornejo continues to push her case against Navarro.
Fermin then perceived that Cornejo may still be holding on to her pride after her case got dismissed by the SC.
“Oo, totoo ‘yun. The mere fact na ibinasura ng supreme court ‘yung rape at acts of lasciviousness na dapat ay hindi pinayagan ng court of appeals na ibalik sa piskalya at lower court ‘yung kaso, panalo na si Vhong ng isang puntos.
“May mga ganu’n po talaga na kapag natatalo, aapela ng aapela po talaga sila at mahirap talagang tanggapin ‘yung ganitong kaso na ikatatalo mo dahil kahihiyan ang ikaakibat nito,” she said.
Cornejo’s rape case got dismissed for lack of probable cause.
