At the media conference for ‘AraBella’ on February 25, Kapuso actress Camille Prats explained why she took a 5-year hiatus from acting.
Prats said she took time off from acting because she focused on caring for her kids and family. The actress explained, “‘Yung five years naman na I wasn’t actively acting, was also because of the seasons in my life na ‘yun din kasi ‘yung time na nagka-anak, so siyempre, kapag mas younger ‘yung mga bagets, mas needy sila with time, mas grabe ‘yung pangangailangan nila.”
She also noted how her talk show ‘Mars’ made her fall in love with hosting. She said she was really lucky to have ‘Mars’ in that lull period of not being able to act as she was able to host programs.
She admitted to having doubts about her acting skills when Sparkle Artist offered her the role in ‘AraBella’.
Prats shared, “Since Mars ended last year, siyempre parang ang Sparkle, they asked me na, ‘Cams, okay ka na ba magserye ulit.’ And I think one of my biggest reasons why I said yes was definitely, I miss acting, siyempre kinakabahan kasi parang feeling ko talaga, ‘Kaya ko pa ba? Marunong pa ba ako? Ano na bang ano ngayon– paano na ba ang style ng pag-arte ngayon?'”
Additionally, she attributed her return to acting to the changes in health restrictions, such as locked-in tapings.
She explained, “Kasi, five years is quite a while, di ba? Marami nang nag-change through time and at the same time, nawala na ‘yung mga locked in, so I think ‘yun talaga ‘yung biggest yes ko eh na I get to get home, we get swabbed every week, but what is important is I am home. And that’s what’s most important to me kasi parang di ko yata kayang mawalay ng matagal na panahon sa aking mga anak at pamilya.”
She was thrilled and anxious at the same time when she was offered ‘AraBella’.
Acting is her first love, and she feels like she’s “at home” now that she’s come back to it, even if it took a while.
In addition to Althea Ablan and Shayne Sava, Prats plays a major role in the series ‘AraBella’.
Other Kapuso stars in the cast include Abdul Raman, Saviour Ramos, Klea Pineda, Mitzi Josh, Faye Lorenzo, Alfred Vargas, and Wendell Ramos.
‘AraBella’, directed by Adolfo Alix Jr, premieres on GMA Afternoon Prime on March 6.
