On March 11, Kapuso director King Mark Baco spilled the tea about Bianca Umali and Ruru Madrid’s one-day-unfollow on Instagram while taping a series.
At the media conference for their upcoming Viu and GMA Network series, The Write One, Baco initially hinted the details of the celebrity couple’s misunderstanding while taping.
“To be honest, bago siya ishoot, may–siyempre may apprehension ako na, what if mag-away sila. So maapektuhan ba ‘yung performance nila, di ba normal lang ‘yun eh, ‘yung LQ. And then one day– one day, lumapit sa akin ‘yung isa sa mga crew. Sabi, ‘Direk may nag-uunfollow ng IG.’ ‘Oh my God, sino ‘yun.’ Kilala natin di ba?”
He recounted his apprehensions on approaching Umali during the latter’s ‘lover’s quarrel’ with Madrid.
“Tapos my God, nag-worry talaga ako. [Sabi ko,] ‘Nasan si Bianca, o anong ginagawa.’ ‘Oh wala, walang kinakausap.’ Ito na ngang sinasabi ko eh. Pero alam mo ‘yun ‘yung ganong ano. Bothered ako, bothered ako ng araw na ‘yun to be honest.
“Parang sobrang sensitive ako na lapitan si B, parang patay-malisya ako. Parang, ‘Ito B, ito ang gagawin natin ha.’ Ganyan-ganyan, as usual, but at the back of my mind, ‘Oh, come on.'”
However, he applauded the real-life couple’s professionalism while on the set.
“Pero ang galing lang, sobrang professional lang. Parang okay lang naman sila. So ang galing parin, ang galing-galing pa rin ng performance, especially nitong dalawa, I mean everybody, sobra. Kasi ako naiyak din ako noong dine-direk ko sila. Nagmumura ako sa sobrang ganda.”
Umali explained what happened, citing that they unfollowed each other on IG because of a spur-of-the-moment decision.
“Direk, binuking mo naman ako. Hindi, it was just a small fight lang naman, so hindi siya something na dapat maging big deal. Good news, we follow na each other again. Ang bilis kasi ng fans eh.
“So ‘yung pag-unfollow namin sa isa’t isa was a spur of the moment, nasa height of emotion. And again, aminado naman kami na wala naman talagang– being in a relationship– being in a relationship, wala naman talagang perfect na relationship. May maliliit na tampuhan lalo na for us, na we are together every single day, working. So I guess, it normal to be burned out a little bit. Pero, okay naman.”
Umali stressed that she and Madrid had already resolved the misunderstanding.
“Siguro it’s a skill somehow for an actor to be able to separate ‘yung personal life happenings sa trabaho. Kami naman so far, parang nagagawa naman namin na hiwalay ‘yung personal issues namin. Kapag nasa eksena kami, we know we are working, di makakahadlang kung ano man ‘yung nangyayari sa amin off cam.”
The Write One stars real-life Kapuso couple Madrid and Umali.
The upcoming series also features Paul Salas, Mikee Quintos, Monching Gutierrez, Lotlot de Leon, Karenina Haniel, Analyn Barro, Yvette Sanchez, Eva Le Queen, Alma Concepcion, Mon Confiado, Kaloy Tingcungco, Migs Villasis, Euwenn Mikaell Aleta, and many more.
Under the direction of Baco, The Write One will premiere on March 20 via GMA Telebabad and early streaming on Viu on March 18.
