Singer Katrina Velarde came to the rescue of Sarah Geronimo in singing a song that the latter was supposed to sing.
Geronimo was one of the featured celebrity performers for Louie Ocampo’s 45th-anniversary concert series, Composer Ka Lang at The Theatre in Solaire on February 4 and 5.
However, Geronimo got sick with colds, and Velarde got asked to stepped in. She only had one night to practice a new arrangement of the OPM classic Anak.
In Velarde’s Facebook post on February 5, she shared her rendition of the song, which garnered more than 500k views.
She thanked Louie Ocampo for the opportunity and [even] wished for Geronimo’s fast recovery.
“Thank you so much Sir Louie for trusting me to do this Beautiful arrangement of ANAK originally for Ate Sarah G that night.
“Unfortunately, SG did not feel well and so they asked me to learned and perform this song last night . It was very challenging learning the song day before the show. But i’m very thankful and honored to ba a part of Louie Ocampo Composer Ka Lang Concert,” she said.
Meanwhile, on Februaty 4, Geronimo congratulated Ocampo for his successful concert and asked for forgiveness for failing to perform.
“Congratulations Sir Louie Ocampo on the success of your show last night!! Thank you for being the coolest Musical director that you are. I am so blessed to have been given many opportunities to work with the one and only Maestro Louie Ocampo!! 🙂
“I sincerely want to apologize for not being able to join you on stage due to a cold.
“Babawi po ako sa inyo next time, Sir Louie at sa lahat ng Popsters,” she said.
