Joaquin Domagoso admitted that he initially got scared about his career after the confirmation about his being a father at 20 years old.
It was in July 2022 when it got confirmed that Joaquin Domagoso, son of former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno is already a father. Kapuso star Raffa Castro is the mother of his child.
In an interview with Boy Abunda on February 8, Domagoso said that he thought the news is the end of his showbiz career.
“Natakot ka ba na that was the end your career? Natakot ka ba na naantala ang iyong pagsikat dahil nalaman ng iyong fans… na ikaw ay isang binatang ama?” asked Abunda.
Domagoso answered, “Takot na takot po ako because when my fans see me, ‘pag makita nila na parang ito ‘yung parang ginagawang matinee idol or something, na siya ‘yung next na bida. For me, I just want to do acting. I want to be an actor. I don’t want to disappoint anybody.”
That time when the news broke out that Domagoso became a father, the young actor was still starting his career in showbiz. He was in a love team with Cassy Legaspi.
Her then said that he was able to move forward from it all with the help of his supporters.
“I got to breathe a bit, because, what happened afterwards, maraming pumasok [na projects].
“’Yung mga totoo na, tunay na fans ko [sinusuportahan pa rin ako] dahil nakikita nila na mabait na tao talaga ako, na gusto ko lang magpatawa ng tao. That’s who I am and that’s who I want to be as an artist,” he said.
He shared his new life as a father and has his family’s full support.
Domagoso and Castro were advised not to get married yet. The Castros also agreed.
“It’s not that we’re not gonna marry. It’s not that we’re deciding or not deciding, that’s the whole beauty about it. The moment you decide or not decide something, mawawala ‘yung question when I do ask and if I do ask,” he said.
