Juan Karlos “JK” Labajo, a German-Filipino actor, singer, and songwriter, admits he doesn’t want to work with director Darryl Yap in the future. The latter hit back at the former.
On February 18, via an interview, Labajo was asked if he would accept any offer to be directed by Yap. He exclaimed, “No, I definitely don’t want to be directed by Darryl Yap. I don’t want to work with him.”
When asked why he does not want to work with the director, he simply responded, he doesn’t want to explain why.
Following the release of a series of movies with political motivations, Labajo believes a film war is brewing.
The singer-actor shared, “We all have freedom when it comes to making art, but I am not really sure if I have a positive opinion when it comes to changing history. That’s definitely something else…but at the end of the day, we’re just making a film, following what’s on the books of what we learned in school.”
On February 20, via a Facebook post, ‘Martyr or Murderer’ director Yap reacted to Labajo’s statement.
Yap stated, “Kahit wala pa akong napapatunayan sa industry, never pa ako nakarinig na direktor ang nag-aaudition sa artista—kaya hindi ako ang maghahanap ng katrabaho kung sakali. I don’t want to be cruel and I don’t want to start this beautiful day with negativity, so I’ll leave a quote for everybody. ‘Nauuna ang alok bago ang tanggi.’”
