On January 31, Kapuso singer Jeniffer Maravilla recounted her experience getting the role of “Sinang” in the Kapuso period fantasy ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’.
At the media conference for her song ‘Alimuom’, Maravilla detailed how she discovered that she would become a mainstay supporting cast of the series.
“Siguro parang a few weeks bago po mag-start ‘yung show, para po na-call kami for auditions for this particular role. And hindi pa po sa mine-mention sa akin kung ano talaga, pero sabi nila kaibigan ni Clara…siguro baka guest role lang po ito…nag-audition na po ako, hanggang sa ginagawa na po namin ‘yung soap, ‘Ay, regular pala ito.’ Kumbaga somehow talaga may relevance, may contribution pala talaga ‘yung aming character.”
She cited her experience working with the lead cast members of the series, citing their hard work and dedication. The singer shared, “So sa akin po, ‘yung experience ko so far, alam ko po baguhan pa lang po ako na actress, or umaarte, pero ‘yung experience ko so far dito sa Maria Clara at Ibarra, sobrang tumatak ‘to sa akin. Kasi, siyempre, sir Dennis Trillo ba naman ang aming kasama, Barbie Forteza, at siyempre, Miss Julie [Anne San Jose].”
The singer revealed she saw how passionate and dedicated the cast were to their craft; this amused and inspired her being a novice in the field of acting.
As for her career, she expressed her hopes of landing more acting projects on the Kapuso Network. Maravilla thanked GMA Network for this opportunity. She hopes to explore various acting roles and she looks forward to more projects with the network.
The singer also noted her interest in comedic roles. She shared, “Alam ko po medyo malayo po ito sa mga ginagawa ko pero kung ako po talaga ‘yung papipiliin ng genre or character, gusto ko po ng pagkakataon na matry mag-comedy.”
As for her music, Maravilla released her song ‘Alimuom’ under GMA Playlist, on February 3. Stream her latest single on all digital music streaming platforms.
