At the media conference for the finale of Mars Ravelo’s ‘Darna’, which LionhearTV covered on January 30, Kapamilya star Jane de Leon addressed people comparing her to actresses who took on the mantle of Darna.
De Leon clarified that each actress who took on the role of Darna left a mark on the character. She said, “With that naman po sa pagko-compare, may sari-sarili naman po kaming tatak na ginawa po as Darna, and I think ‘yun po ‘yung pinagkakaiba sa amin. Especially with the costumes, the story, and the villains. And, pero pare-pareho naman po ‘yung effort and craftmanship na binigay namin sa show.”
As for her experience taping for the series, de Leon recounted getting injured while taping the series. The actress narrated, “Sa stunts po, ang dami po talaga. Na-ER na po ako. May isang eksena ako with Josh na pagluhod ko sa kanya hindi ko alam na parang may pako na naka–pako na naka-angat, tapos tumagos siya sa tuhod ko, so dugo siya ng dugo sobrang sakit kasi sa may buto na siya banda…buti nandoon si sir Jeff, kasi siya rin ‘yun, nag-EMT, and pinipilit kong hindi umiyak, nagpapaka-strong ako pero ang sakit talaga, so tinakbo ako ng ER para for anti-tetanus.”
She then advised aspiring action stars to be prepared for accidents if they wanted to pursue a career in the action genre. She shared, “Kaya doon sa mga gustong maging action star sa susunod, it’s very normal talaga na ma-aksidente, basta ready ka lang at tatanggapin mo lang ‘yung trabaho na pinapasok mo.”
De Leon stars in the Kapamilya action-fantasy series ‘Darna’ with Zaijian Jaranilla, Joshua Garcia, and Janella Salvador.
