At the grand media conference of Martyr or Murderer on February 21, Senator Imee Marcos described the Viva director Darryl Yap as “basagulero” (troublesome) when commenting about their detractors.
Reporters asked Yap and Marcos about their reaction to critics using them as topics when promoting their projects. Marcos jested to press members, “Ako sasagot, si Direk Darryl kasi, basagulero talaga.”
Yap classified these criticisms using his name as poor promotion.
“Hihinga pa lang ako eh, no. I cannot speak for them no, I cannot speak for them. If they want me to be the topic sa mga presscon nila, wala naman akong magagawa doon kasi hindi naman masisingil ng Viva ‘yun eh. Sayang.Â
“Kung masisingil lang ng Viva everytime na mabanggit pangalan ko, magiging producer na nila sana ako. Kaso wala, eh. I cannot speak for them I just think it’s poor promotion. And, I think they have to level up din if they want to talk about themselves din, if there’s something to talk about them.”
Additionally, Marcos revealed that she had fights with Yap about the title of their upcoming Viva film.
“Well, sa totoo po lamang, sa pamagat pa lang, nag-aaway na po kami. And until today, I haven’t made peace with this title.”
She also confirmed that she observed the daily shoots of the cast and crew while filming Martyr or Murderer.
“But I also have to confess na hindi ko pa napapanood. Sabi nga ni Darryl alas dos ng umaga nagtatapos pa siya.
“Napanood ko ‘yung karamihan ng dailies, so nakikita ko naman per eksena. Pero, ‘yung kabuuan, surprise pa rin.
Martyr or Murderer stars Cristine Reyes, Cesar Montano, Ruffa Gutierrez, Ella Cruz, and Diego Loyzaga.
Kyle Velino, Elizabeth Oropesa, and Beverly Salviejo also reprise their role in the sequel.
Aside from the main cast, the film also introduced new faces such as Isko Moreno, Marco Gumabao, Jerome Ponce, Franki Russel, Cindy Miranda, Rose Van Ginkel, Billy Jake, Sachzna Laparan, and Marlon Mance.
Directed by Darryl Yap, Martyr or Murderer opens in cinemas on March 1, with a scheduled international release in the following weeks.
