On February 4, seasoned actress and director Gina Alajar recounted a fight between “Superstar” Nora Aunor and then “Matinee Idol” Tirso Cruz III when they were younger.
At the story conference for ‘Pieta’ at Victorino’s Restaurant, Alajar recalled experiencing a delay while filming their movie ‘My Little Brown Girl’ (1972) because of Aunor’s fight with her then-beau Cruz III. While talking to Aunor, she shared, “Wag na lang ‘yung Little Brown Girl, kasi sa Little Brown Girl, ‘yun pa ‘yung ano mare, ‘yung maaga akong nag-hintay sa shooting…nag-aaway kayo ni Pip noon, ayaw mo mag-shooting. Hangga’t hindi kayo nagkakabati.”
She then attested to Aunor’s humility as an actress, especially while directing Aunor in GMA Network’s ‘Onanay’.
Alajar mentioned, “Through these years, ang nakita ko sa kaniya, ‘yung humility niya dahil kahit Superstar na Superstar na siya, hindi mo makikita sa kanya ‘yung ere. She’s still the–‘yung simple, simple, dadating siya set, she would you know, treat everyone. Walang diva effect na you know, I’m Nora Aunor, you should like this, and like that. ‘Yung ganito, ganyan, kung mayroon man siyang gustong sabihin, kung mayroon man siyang hindi gusto sa nangyayari sa paligid, she would talk to you. And then kayo lang, mag-uusap kayo ng one on one. Hindi siya ‘yung tao na highly dramatic, she’s a very humble person.”
Alajar said one would not see any sense of entitlement in Aunor’s persona.
Aunor also took a trip down memory lane, attesting to Alajar’s forgiving nature.
She shared that they had a misunderstanding before, and Alajar forgave her. She added, “Yun ‘yung kumare ko na maunawain, marunong umintindi, at mapagmahal na director at artista.”
Gina Alajar and Nora Aunor star in the upcoming film ‘Pieta’ with actor-turned-politician Alfred Vargas.
Under the direction of Adolfo Alix Jr, Pieta will begin production soon.
