The dramatic actor is among the newest set of stars who recently joined the cast of the top-rating Kapamilya series.
Popular 2000s heartthrob Christian Vasquez is elated to be part of the Richard Gutierrez-headliner, The Iron Heart. The series recently announced that it got extended on air, allowing it to explore more twists and add new characters to make the plot more exciting. Among those characters is Orbos, played by the early 2000s sexy star and now a popular character actor, Vasquez.
Before his The Iron Heart stint, Vasquez appeared in La Vida Lena and FPJ’s ng Probinsyano. The Iron Heart marked his reunion with Star Creatives Television after 2018’s Bagani, where he played one of the major characters.
LionHearTV.net had the chance to see the production of the Kapamilya series go full-swing in Cebu on February 6 and 7. During those days, we took the opportunity of interviewing cast members, including the additional ones. Vasquez plays Orcus Silverio, a Tatsulok leader tasked to oversee the group, which Richard Gutierrez;s character Apollo a.k.a. Tisoy.
According to Vasquez, the role excites him very much, largely because of its comic nature, noting that it is his first time to play such a role.
“Sobrang exciting siya kasi kakaiba ang character ko dito. Although ano siya eh, parang part ako ng syndicate na isa sa mga soldiers ni Priam sa show. Ang character ko, kakaiba, kasi meron siyang comic side, “ he told us, sharing a brief background of his character.
“First time akong makaka-portray ng role na syndicate, na soldier, ng isang malaking boss, pero comic ‘yung character. So, sobrang excited ako, sobrang saya, “ he added.
Vasquez took notice of the challenges of playing such a flamboyant character, underscoring its demand to become spontaneously funny. “Since comic siya, medyo mahirap, kasi ‘yung timing mo dapat sakto. Minsan kapag binigay na ang script, kailangan hanapan ko siya ng butas kung saan pwede kung ipasok ‘yung mga binibitawan kong lines na nakakatawa,”
The Ilonggo actor revealed that he did not have any trouble getting along with the rest of the cast and doing his first scenes, as he was given creative freedom to interpret his character. “First scene ko dito sobrang na-enjoy ko kagad, kasi binigyan naman ako ni Direk Lester ng freedom ng kung ano ‘yung interpretation ko sa character.”
In the series, Vasquez’s character got revealed to have friction with Dimples Romana’s character, Selene.
The Iron Heart airs on A2Z, TV5, Kapamilya Channel, and Jeepney TV, Mondays thru Fridays, right after FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.
