On February 16, Kapuso star Cassy Legaspi revealed Darren Espanto’s reaction to her upcoming movie with JK Labajo.
At a media conference for Sparkle artists, Legaspi said Espanto focused on the fact that she’s doing her first movie–and a musical.
“So D and I are very close, so siyempre nakukwento ko na, ‘You know, I have this new movie, ganito, ganyan. Tapos musical pa. And that time kasi po, si Darren was also doing a musical sa kabila. So parang sabi ko, it’s timely, so close. So, deadma lang po.
“No po, deadma lang po talaga, it was very [just] about me and doing my first movie and [my first] musical pa.”
She then shared the singer’s advice regarding her musical performances in the film.
“Sabi lang po niya na I just have to be confident, and for sure to practice my materials, kasi nga po it’s not like I’m singing like paano ba, ‘yung pop songs, R&B, ganon, musical ‘to so parang iba ‘yung technique. Pero alam naman po niya na masipag naman ako mag-aral so like if there’s a material, I really study it, I find ways to you know learn how to adjust, I guess I just did my own thing naman po.”
Legaspi also discussed her duet with her fellow First Yaya star Joaquin Domagoso.
“I think two to three songs, ang pinaka-memorable is ‘yung duet namin ni JD. Kasi kumanta din po si JD, so for me parang nagulat din po ako, na ‘Oh my Gosh. Wow!’ And for direk, sabi po niya, please sing it live, so hindi po kami nag-lip synch. So sabi ko, ‘Okay po, game po.'”
As for their film, Ako Si Ninoy stars JK Labajo, Sarah Holmes, Johnrey Rivas, Marlo Mortel, Joaquin Domagoso, and Legaspi.
Directed by Atty. Vince Tañada, Ako Si Ninoy opens on February 22 in local cinemas.
