On February 16, Kapuso star Cassy Legaspi revealed why she accepted the role in ‘Ako si Ninoy’ despite her hesitations.
At a media conference for Sparkle artists, Legaspi confirmed that she wanted to take on the project because of the character in the film.
She explained, “Well, to be honest po, I was very, very, very hesitant to accept the role, but I don’t know, na-realize ko po na for me, it’s also a challenging role. And a challenging project to be a part of, kasi nga po it’s politics.”
She also highlighted how her character’s message resonated with her and her beliefs.
The artist furthered, “Kasi, ‘yung character ko po, she has [a very] important message to put out there na it’s very near and dear to my heart. It’s a message na I’ve been [wanting] to put out, but I didn’t have the opportunity to, so when I received the inquiry for this movie, my character description, nag-yes agad ako.”
She then discussed how her role reflects the current views and experiences of Gen Z. She shared, “Na-experience ko ‘yung feeling as a Gen Z, learning about the past through my character. Kasi po ‘yung character ko sa movie is the representative of mga Gen Z…it’s also good to be aware of what happened sa past, and of course, our Philippine history, and I’m [so happy] na na-revive in a way.”
