At the media conference for the digital series Roommate on February 4, artist Beaver Magtalas recounted how he started in showbiz.
Magtalas cited how he began his showbiz journey through Star Magic workshops and Pinoy Big Brother auditions.
“I first started po sa workshops ng Star Magic actually, and then doon ako nagkaroon ng kumbaga contract. And pero ‘yung first audition po talaga ay sa PBB and then hindi po ako nakuha but thankfully po may contract ako sa kanila currently.”
He also revealed his upcoming projects on TV and film.
“And of course, sa mga projects nga po, mayroon po ako ngayon na ipapalabas din po kasama si Jhassy, Genius Kids po, ipapalabas po siya sa mga TV platforms this March, and of course Tahanan ng mga Pangarap. And then abangan ninyo po.”
He then expressed his interest in working on a romantic comedy production in the future.
“Ako po, I would sa roles po, kahit ano naman po, pero I would definitely like to experience romcoms po, and then sa acting, wala na po kasi akong maisip na ka-age ko na nasa, well technically, hindi ko ka-age si Francine, pero pwede rin po, if ever, pero si Mutya po talaga ‘yung nakikita kong ano– wala rin po kasi ako maisip na ka-age ko.”
As for his digital series, Magtalas noted that the online success of their series came as an expected surprise.
“Ako po sa una, hindi ko din inexpect na ganito ‘yung kakalabasan ng Roommate, pero as we we’re doing the shoot po, tsaka ko nare-realize na– dahil nakikita ko po kasi ‘yung pagpupursige po nila sa mga ginagawa nila.
“And sa mga reaction naman po ng mga friends ko, lagi po nilang tinatatanong ‘yung mangyayari kasi very interesting nga po ‘yung story, so very curious nga po ‘yung mga tao sa mangyayari.”
Magtalas stars in the digital series directed by Gabby Ramos, Roommate with Jhassy Busran, Heindrick Sitjar, and MJ Manuel.
