Kapamilya director Andoy Ranay gamely engages a Kapuso netizen who accused him of copying the GMA Network series Widows’ Web.
On Tuesday, February 7, Twitter user @showbiz_polls insinuated that the Kapamilya crime suspense thriller series Dirty Linen was just a copycat of the Kapuso series Widow’s Web tagging its director Andoy Ranay.
“Certain people (very few actually) are praising Dirty Linen, but it’s actually a poor COPYCAT of the Widow’s Web! Right @andoyranay? GMA 7 is still the true home of groundbreaking and nonconventional teleseryes!”

Instead of getting irked, Ranay sarcastically replied he didn’t know such a series existed.
“Oh there’s such a show? Sorry di ko alam.”

Widow’s Web is a GMA Network series starring Carmina Villaroel and directed by former Kapamilya director Jerry Lopez-Sineng which aired from February to April 2022.
Meanwhile, the Kapuso fan seemed unaware that he/she’s just being played by Ranay when it tweeted again sharing the comparative ratings between Widow’s Web and The Broken Marriage Vow which was also directed by Ranay.
“This is the rating that your copycat show will NEVER achieve. Hanggang 4.0 lang kayo.”

Ranay then made a funny clapback again. He replied “Oh eh di very good kayo. Palakpakan. So proud of you guys.”
