At the story conference for Pieta at Victorino’s Restaurant on February 4, actor-politician Alfred Vargas compared his role in the upcoming film to his previous movies, such as Bridal Shower and Supremo.
Vargas noted that Pieta might be one of his most challenging roles yet.
“Well ako, may gatas pa ako sa labi. Napakahirap nitong character, napakahirap nitong project for me. I think in my career, parang kasama nito ‘yung Bridal Shower at tsaka Supremo. Mga ganong nagawa ko, baka nga mas mahirap pa.
“Very big challenge ito for me, so gagawin ko na lang, blank slate na lang lahat, lahat ng kaya kong matutunan, gagawin ko ‘tong isang learning process for me to become a better actor.”
He also discussed what it was like for him to work with National Artists for film and broadcast arts Nora Aunor.
“Pagka artistang Pilipino ka, pangarap mong talagang makatrabaho ang isang Nora Aunor and for me, it’s a dream come true. And actually, Ate Guy noong ano– noong pumunta po ako sa bahay ninyo, wala po talaga akong expectations noon. Parang 50/50. Talagang nagdasal na lang ako, sana pumayag si Ate Guy.”
He then affirmed how blessed he felt, especially with Aunor accepting the project.
“Ang dami ko ng nakausap na ibang producers na nagsabi na hindi basta-basta tumatanggap si Ate Gay ng project. So I’m just very happy kay Direk Adolf and kay Ate Gay, I just feel so blessed, kinakabahan ako sa first day ng shooting namin, this month, pero mas excited ako to work with Miss Nora Aunor and Direk Gina [Alajar].”
Vargas stars in the upcoming film Pieta with Aunor and the seasoned actress-director Gina Alajar.
Under the direction of Adolfo Alix Jr, Pieta begins production soon.
