The Kapamilya top executive and Star Magic head expressed gratefulness to MAVX productions for collaborating with Star Magic, on a series of upcoming projects.
Laurenti Dyogi, Star Magic head and ABS-CBN’s head of TV production, is among the prominent figures at the helm of ABS-CBN’s collaboration with a major production house, MAVX Productions. The film outfit is behind several recent hits, including the Baron Geisler-starrer, Doll House, the Pepe Herrera-Janine Gutierrez romcom, Ikaw (Only You), and the mellow drama, A Faraway Land.
During the press conference for the Star Magic x MAVX Productions collaboration, held on January 6, Dyogi highlighted the landmark collaboration’s role in ABS-CBN’s continuing efforts to become a global content dynamo.
Dyogi underscored that forging the partnership with emerging movie production powerhouse, MAVX, was an easy undertaking, as its producers are also “Letranistas’ like he is.
“It was an easy partnership, with the team MVX. Naniniwala ako sa kakayanan din ng MAVX to produce quality programs.Kaya naman kapag may pinipitch sa aming content, masigasig din kami sa pagpresent ng aming mga artista, so we can have a good content. Alam mo naman na with good content, good artists, we create a good movie,” he said, underscoring MAVX’s reputation in producing quality projects.
The current partnership between Star Magic and MAVX features a three-part film series, all directed by Director RC de los Reyes, who helmed several movies already, including Mary, Marry Me (2018), and Love the Way U Lie (2020). The new series includes I Love Lizzy, starred by Carlo Aquino and Barbie Imperial; Swing, starred by a real-life couple, RK Bagatsing and Jane Oineza; and Unravel, starring Gerald Anderson and Kylie Padilla.
Beyond the De los Reyes-directed film series, the partnership is expected to step up with further collaborations in the future. Dyogi noted that as of the moment, a MAVX team is currently in South America to explore possible filming locations for upcoming movies under the expanded partnership.
“I know Lucky right now is in South America, Chile, Patagonia kung saan siya pupunta…kalalapag lang ‘ata niya. He’s doing another round of oculars for the next series of projects, and hopefully we’ll bring some of our artists in Star Magic,” Dyogi shared.
Dyogi clarified that MAVX productions is the sole producer of the movies, while Star Magic is the major provider of stars. He also noted that having Kylie Padilla, a GMA Sparkle artist, in the project, is a mutual decision between MAVX and Star Magic and that he is grateful for Padilla’s decision to accept the offer.
Among the three movies, the Carlo Aquino and Barbie Imperial-starrer, I Love Lizzy, will be the first to hit cinemas on January 18.
