At the media conference for Underage, which LionhearTV covered on January 12, award-winning actress Snooky Serna recalled doing the film of the same title back then as her first project with Regal Films.
Serna said she felt sentimental about accepting the role, citing Underage was her first film project when she was a teenager back then.
“It was a mixed emotions din, mayroon din kaligayahan– masaya rin ako, sentimental din ako, siyempre ‘yun ‘yung kaunaunahan kong pelikula noong aking kabataan and I have very good memories about the film, and now they translated it to television.
“And siyempre it’s a big honor also for me, na ako ang pinili ng mga bosses namin sa GMA Network na makasama sa project na ito na kinabilangan ko noong aking kabataan. So, I’m just very, very thankful.”
She then admitted feeling nervous taking on the Kontrabida role previously donned by the late Bella Flores.
“Ang feeling ko niyan initially, noong ako ang na-offer ng role, as Velda for Underage, nagkaroon ako ng takot, actually–kaba, kasi sabi ko, ‘Will I able to live up to the role noong pagka-kontrabida ni Tita Bella Flores noong araw?’ ‘Yung talaga bang mabibigyan ko ng hustisya ‘yung role ni Velda.”
She then talked about the closeness of the Underage cast behind the scenes.
“Talagang masaya ‘yung family, ‘yung Underage family. First time nga ako nakapag-Tiktok na kasama ‘yung aking mga kasamahan sa trabaho, medyo mahiyain din ako, pero dahil na at ease ako sa set.
“Napakabait lahat ng aking kasamahan and they made me feel like I belong, talaga namang ako’y napa Tiktok, and nag-enjoy talaga sa Underage taping namin. Thank God for the blessing of being part of Underage, the television version.”
Serna took on the role of Corazon in the 1980 film Under-age.
As for the series, Underage stars Lexi Gonzales, Elijah Alejo, and Hailey Mendes.
The teleserye includes a powerhouse Kapuso cast of Sunshine Cruz, Gil Cuerva, Nikki Co, Yayo Aguila, Maey Bautista, Smokey Manaloto, Jean Saburit, Christian Vasquez, Jome Silayan, and Vince Crisostomo.
Underage, directed by Rechie del Carmen, will premiere on January 16 on GMA Afternoon Prime.
