The Red Crab Group of Restaurants in Manila, the Philippines, has opened Saigosan in BGC, Taguig City, promising a distinctive take on Japanese cuisine.
Featuring delicious burgers, chicken, and donburi, Saigosan is Chef Chris Oronce’s interpretation of an izakaya. The Nobu-trained chef came up with a tiny “restaurant” concept that would cater to young families, particularly fathers and sons who enjoy Mr. Miyagi and the gang, vintage samurai films, anime, manga, TV shows, and movies with Japanese themes.
Entering the store transports you to a dreamlike Japan sandwiched between a commuter train and a ramen shop, thanks to its distinctive design.
Due in large part to its vivid colors and neon lighting, the store stands out and attracts attention from onlookers. All ages will find the interior’s art welcoming, which pays homage to Japanese cult classics.
At Saigosan, you can enjoy well-known and beloved Japanese comfort food. Choose from sashimi platters, Ebi tempura, traditional gyoza, and fiery salmon rolls. To add variety, they do enjoy modernizing timeless pieces.
In the form of their mini volcano rolls, they have their own take on the California roll. Their truffle wagyu steak macaroni, with coffee jelly and matcha panna cotta with jelly, is sure to please both parents and children.
The grilled teriyaki burger in brioche buns with onion rings is a must-try for anyone who enjoys hamburgers. To those seeking something a bit unique, there is the roast beef sukiyaki burger. If you want something both–you and your children will enjoy, the tori Teri Sando and tori katsu sando are both possibilities. When it comes to donburi, their chasu bacon and egg version is popular with customers. They also provide their own take on classic dishes like the buta kakuni don and grilled tori Teri don and yakiniku donburi with egg. For lovers of seafood, the miso butter lobster is a bonus.
Is chicken an option? Chicken is a common ingredient in Saigosan’s menu. There are three sauce choices for traditional wings and tenders: teriyaki, wasabi mayo, and creamy mushroom sauce. You can’t go wrong with their gyoza-stuffed fried wings on the menu. The fried chicken ramen is a modern take on a classic dish, featuring crispy chicken katsu served in a miso-painted broth. If you’d rather eat chicken than rice, they also have chicken katsu don.
Young people and those who are still young at heart can both enjoy Saigosan food. In fact, if you’re looking for a place to relax after a long day at work or a quick lunch, this is the place to go. They want to be at the top of customers’ lists when deciding where to eat at Uptown Mall and other locations in Bonifacio Global City. Because they are close to the theater, their meals are excellent for sating cravings before or after watching a movie. Saigosan was created by the same people who created The Red Crab Alimango House, Blackbeard’s Seafood Island, and Pier at Crawdaddy’s. They were able to combine traditional Japanese dishes with modern favorites with Chef Chris’ assistance.
