It’s the most wonderful time to treat yourself and loved ones with divine desserts – and Paper Moon is the way to go! Home of the world-famous Mille Crepe (layers of paper-thin handmade crepes with a light pastry cream in between and topped with a caramelized crust), Paper Moon has been serving mouth-watering cakes and pastries here in Manila since 2015.
This was made possible by the collaboration between Tokyo’s Grand Dame of Specialty Cake, Madame Kazuko Emi Wada and the Philippines’ perennial starmaker and Viva’s big boss, Vic Del Rosario.
During the recent visit of Madame Emi here in Manila, she recalled that she and her husband met Boss Vic many years ago. After years of friendship, they started a business together by bringing this premium dessert boutique to Manila. Paper Moon, which originated in Japan, opened in Glorietta 3 in August 2015. It now has a total of nine branches across the metro.
All Paper Moon products are made from fresh, high-quality ingredients, but the Original Mille Crepe, also known as the “crepe cake” remains to be the bestseller. Madame Emi also noted that Mango Mille Crepe – featuring nothing less but the fresh and sweet Philippine mangoes – are also very popular.
This Christmas season, Paper Moon is bringing holiday cheer to all cake lovers by adding a special Christmas tree cookie and ornaments to the Original Mille Crepe, the Mango Shortcake, and the Strawberry Shortcake! The shortcakes have the perfect balance of light and fluffy sponge cake and the sweetness of the fruits.
Madame Emi happily spends her time going to new places and finding fresh inspiration to come up with new creations. After two years of absence in the Philippines due to the pandemic, she is finally back to introduce new flavors of mille crepe: chocolate, banana chocolate, and matcha with white chocolate. Try them all and you might just find a new favorite!
Madame Emi also makes special mention of the Choux Fromage, a puff pastry with cream cheese filling. A bit of trivia: the first time she had a taste of it during one of her travels, she was so inspired by it that she decided to start a cake business. So, thanks to the Choux Fromage, Paper Moon came into being.
