Kapuso actor Paolo Contis clarified his viral statement, which caught the ire of disgruntled Kathryn Bernardo fans.
During his interview with Boy Abunda’s Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Friday, January 27, Contis defended himself and said that the “viral statement” was taken out of context.
“Medyo nagulat ako kasi it was taken out of context no. Obviously, yung nagpost eh, para saken, naghahanap sya ng issue. And to be honest kung ako din naman yung fan ni Kathryn at yung lang din maikling part na yun ang narinig ko, kasi dun lang din naman sya sinabi sa GMA ang artista, fact lang yun diba. So kung ako naman yung fan ni Kathryn maooffend din ako.”
Contis added that people should watch the entire interview and not get carried away with clickbait social media posts. He also defended Alden Richards, saying he was very thankful to the actress and Star Cinema for the opportunity to work with them, which resulted in the biggest box-office film in the country.
“However, sana lang pagnakakakita sila nang ganun they should watch the whole interview because pinagusapan namin ni Alden yung sobrang thankful si Alden sa ginawa ng Star Cinema para sa kanya. He was very thankful to Kathryn. so I believe na, kumbaga, na-ano na naman tayo eh, nadala na naman tayo ng click bait, sadly people got mad at me and Alden.”
Meanwhile, asked by Abunda to address the Kapamilya actress, Contis said: “Hi Kathryn, I respect you as an actress. I know you’re one of the biggest actresses of ABS-CBN. Sana mapanood mo yung buong interview para ikaw na mismo, makita mo na nabigyang respeto ka namin dun sa interview.”

Contis’s clarification came off the heels of a viral meme of him with Alden Richards, which made rounds on social media.
The meme contains parts of their interview for Sparkle Artist’s YouTube show Just In, published on January 18, where he said, “Yung number one movie ng Star Cinema at ABS-CBN, taga-GMA ang artista!”
