Dubbed “Asia’s Superstar” actress Kathryn Bernardo and actor/recording artist Daniel Padilla ‘KathNiel’ are set to do a film project with director Cathy Garcia-Molina in 2023.
In a report by Panay News in December 2022, the director said that she plans to work with Kathniel in the first quarter of 2023.
Garcia-Molina said, “Dapat naka-slate siya sa January, first quarter dapat, before I get married in April. January dapat gagawin ‘yung KathNiel. Ewan ko kung ano ang mangyayari.”
The box office director has been working with ‘KathNiel’ closely. She is the director behind the romantic comedy films ‘She’s Dating the Gangster’, and ‘The Hows of Us’. She also directed the series ‘Got To Believe’, ‘Pangako Sa’Yo’, and ‘La Luna Sangre’.
When asked if the reunion film project would have the romantic-comedy genre, the director gave a resounding “no.”
She shared, “The KathNiel movie is very different. It’s something new and we’re all very excited for KathNiel. Basta, kakaiba! Nanggaling sa aming lahat [na hindi ito gawing romcom], aside from gusto rin nila na makitang bago naman sila.”
Although there will be some romance in the said film, Garcia-Molina emphasized that Bernardo and Padilla, who have been partners in real life and on-screen for ten years, will be taking on some fresh material.
