At the media conference for ‘Underage’, which LionhearTV covered on January 12, Spanish Filipino actor and international model Gil Cuerva revealed how he supported model-actress Lexi Gonzales for her starring role in the GMA Network teleserye.
Gonzales’ maturity in acting, said the Kapuso star, was a result of her efforts. He explained, “Wala akong kinalaman, it’s all on her, ‘yung pagma-mature niya, even her craft, everything, it’s all on her. Yeah, ‘yun lang talaga masasabi ko, it’s all her– everything good [that has] been happening to her is because of her.”
As for Gonzales, she attributed her growth in her craft to her experiences amid the pandemic. She shared, “Noong Starstruck kasi, I am also starting…’yung talagang pre-pandemic, as in after na after ng Starstruck, super wala akong ginawa kasi pandemic…so parang pasundot-sundot lang ‘yung projects na natatanggap ko, so I had the time to focus on myself more, para matuto, I had plenty of time to learn, to practice, to rehearse, so I think naka-add ‘yun kung bakit mas matured ako ngayon.”
Cuerva added that he remained supportive of Gonzales throughout their taping for the Kapuso series.
“[I try–] I try to make her happy, pero she bloomed on her own. That’s all on her. Ako, I [just] try to be supportive and make her happy. ‘Yun lang,” the actor expressed.
As for their series, Gonzales stars in the Kapuso afternoon series Underage with Elijah Alejo and Hailey Mendes.
Cuerva, Sunshine Cruz, Snooky Serna, Nikki Co, Yayo Aguila, Maey Bautista, Smokey Manaloto, Jean Saburit, Christian Vasquez, Jome Silayan, and Vince Crisostomo also appear in the teleserye.
The TV version of the 1980s film, directed by Rechie del Carmen, premiered on GMA Afternoon Prime on January 16th.
