Barbie Forteza, surprised by the success of ‘FiLay’

On January 16, Kapuso actress Barbie Forteza asserted that she was surprised by the success of ‘FiLay’ (Fidel and Klay), her pairing with David Licauco in ‘Maria Clara At Ibarra’.

At the media conference for the Season 2 premiere of Maria Clara at Ibarra, Forteza described as “unexpected” the success of her pairing with Licauco.

She then inferred why the character Klay got paired up with Fidel. The actress remarked, “To be honest po, sa pakiramdam ko po, kaya nagkaroon ng Fidel, para nga hindi ako maka-interfer sa love story ni Maria Clara at Ibarra. Kumbaga para may malinaw akong pupuntahan. Kasi, for a time kasi nag-stay talaga ako with Ibarra eh, so para hindi magkaroon ng romantic angle, malinaw na may Fidel.”

Foteza added, “Siguro ang hindi ko inexpect, magiging ganito siya kalaki, magiging ganito siya ka-successful. And ayon, parang pangatlong project na namin ‘to, kaya na-surprise din ako sa response ng tao.”

As for Licauco, he recounted how people would call him Fidel instead of David.

“Actually, everytime na nasa labas ako hindi nila ako tinatawag by my real name, tinatawag nila sa akin is Fidel. So nakakatuwa kasi it just means na nanonood talaga sila ng show at madaming nanonood talaga…kaya tumatak ‘yung name ko at name ng lahat ng cast is because maganda talaga ‘yung show.”

He then expressed gratitude to the team behind the successful period fantasy series.

The actor is happy to know that the entire team of ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’ (the director, the writers, the cameramen, the production assistants, and the artists) has contributed to the success of the show. He thanked GMA Network for the opportunity.
