The newly-signed GMA Sparkle artist differentiated himself from most newbies, as he “personally” reached out to talent agencies and scouts to be discovered.
Kim Perez may have been a Kapuso artist for just a few months. However, he described his relationship with the network as if it had been several years. The charming young male star is among the 10 up-and-coming artists who signed with the Kapuso talent arm, GMA Sparkle, on November 22.
He expressed his awe at how quickly things have turned in his favor since he joined GMA Network.
Last week, he officially sealed his place as a Kapuso by signing an exclusive contract with the Johnny Manahan-led GMA Sparkle. He described the feeling as “overwhelming.” Unlike most of his contemporaries, he clarified that he had no backing of powerful talent scouts–he personally reached out to talent agencies to get discovered and eventually land projects.
Perez also assumed that it was his youthfulness that made GMA Sparkle notice him, noting that it is what is usually looked for in aspiring artists like him.
Claire Castro and actor-director Xian Lim were among those whom he has worked with so far. He will get re-unite with the former Kapamilya star via the upcoming drama, Hearts on Ice.
Perez’s short stint as a Kapuso star has already allowed him to explore and showcase his talents in hosting via the morning news magazine show Unang Hirit. He described the feeling as “light.”
“Yung Unang Hirit napakagaan, lalo pa first time ko mag co-host with Miss Suzie (Entrata-Abrera). Basta lahat good vibes, kahit sa production.
“(My experience with Unang Hirit has been very “light,” so far. It was first time to host, especially with Miss Suzie. Everything about the show brigngs good vibes, even in the production),” he said.
Now that he has signed with GMA Sparkle, Perez hopes to accomplish his goal as an established actor. He said he dreamed of joining show business ever since.
“Gusto rin maging travel host gaya ni Drew Arellano. And syempre maging isa sa mga prime (actors).
“(I laso want to be a travel host like Drew Arellano…and of course to become one of the prime actors in GMA),” he added.
“Continuous lang ang learning sa workshop kasi marami pang dapat na matutunan…sa tingin dapat talaga lahat matutunan para marami kang paglalagyan”
Hearts on Ice is set to premiere on GMA Telebabad next year. Perez shared that his character will spice up the story of the Kapuso sports drama.
