When it comes to smartphones, Vivo has a lot to offer from entry to premium phones. The company recently updated its V series. Vivo V25 is a mid-range Android phone that has a color-changing design and Night Portrait Master photography. It aims to target those people who are looking for a mix of style and features.
UNBOX
The box is gray with the Vivo V25 printed on the front. The unit, a free silicone case cover, warranty and guide papers, a sim ejector pin, a USB type C cable, the 44w power brick charger, a headset, and a USB C to 3.5mm audio headphone jack adapter are all included in the box.
DESIGN
The Vivo V25 weighs around 186 grams and has a thickness of 7.79 mm. The V25 has smooth curved corners, flat edges, and an aluminum frame with a glossy reflective design. It still feels comfortable to hold in both hands or even just one hand. On the right side of the device, you will find the power button, and volume rockers while it is completely clean on the left side. The top features a single microphone, while the bottom features a second microphone, SIM card tray slot, USB Type-C port, and speaker grill. The SIM card tray is a hybrid SIM card tray that can support a nano SIM card or a micro SD card.
The front features a small waterdrop notch that houses the front camera. The polycarbonate back panel has a smooth frosted glass finish that glitters when exposed to light. It’s anti-fingerprint and anti-smudge. It features a triple camera design with two large circular camera lenses and an LED flash housed in a square camera module with a Vivo logo at the bottom.
The back cover panel of the Vivo V25 is made of Fluorite AG Glass and has a Photochromic version 2.0. It may appear to be a standard cover back panel at first glance, but when exposed to sunlight or UV light, the effect will captivate or amaze you.
Our Sunrise Gold color variant alternates between lovely yellow-gold and orange hues.
DISPLAY
The Vivo V25 has a 6.44-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 2404 x 1080 pixels. The display has a peak brightness of 1300 nits, making it suitable for outside use. It has a water drop notch design, and the bezels around the screen are thin with a thicker bottom chin. There is a 90Hz refresh rate supported, so you can get a smooth scrolling experience. It has HDR10+ playback certification, so you can watch HDR content on apps like Netflix. It has an AMOLED display so colors pop out beautifully with sharp angles, brightness, and contrast, with clear and crisp quality.
PERFORMANCE
The Vivo V25 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 900 Octa-core chipset, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a Mali-G68 GPU, with an additional 8GB virtual RAM available via internal storage, for a total of 16GB of RAM.
The phone can handle most of the tasks we throw at it, such as browsing the internet, updating our social media accounts, taking photos, and watching our favorite multimedia content. The phone allows you to switch between multiple apps quickly and without lag.
It has a single bottom-firing speaker which produces decent sound quality thanks to its Hi-Res Audio feature that enhances the sound.
There is a Multi turbo 5.0. There are no hiccups or lags in the games, and you can play on high to medium settings.
In terms of biometrics, it has an in-display fingerprint scanner, and face detection, in addition to the standard screen lock options of swipe, pattern, and PIN.
SOFTWARE
The Vivo V25 runs on Funtouch OS 12, which is based on Android 12. The user interface is straightforward and simple to use.
The phone comes with some pre-installed apps, including Agoda, Facebook, Foodpanda, GCash, Grab, Lazada, LinkedIn, Netflix, Shopee, Spotify, and TikTok. It also includes Google tools and Vivo’s own proprietary apps. Some of the pre-installed apps are ones I usually use, so it’s convenient that the apps are already installed, but if you don’t like some of them, you can uninstall them from the app settings.
Funtouch OS 12 can be customized to your liking. You can begin by customizing the Always On Display, Themes, and Wallpaper, or changing your UI Colors under the lock screen and wallpaper settings. You can also change the size of the icons and their shape from a circle to a rounded one.
Fingerprint, home screen unlock, screen on/off, charging, and USB insertion animation styles can all be easily changed via the Dynamic Effects settings.
BATTERY
The Vivo V25 has a decent 4500mAh battery with 44W fast charging support to quickly charge the battery. The 4500mAh battery is small, so if you’re a heavy user, bring the 44W charger with you to take advantage of the fast charging.
Average users can easily get one full day out of this phone, while light users can probably last until the afternoon the next day.
Our typical use of the Vivo V25 resulted in approximately 6 hours of screen time, which included gaming, updating social media channels, and watching YouTube videos.
It has a Battery Saver option under the battery settings that activates the Dark Theme mode and limits background activity, as well as lowers the phone’s performance to extend battery life.
CAMERA
Along with the attractive color-changing back panel, you will notice a triple camera setup consisting of a 64MP OIS ultra-sensing main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro sensor.
The front-facing camera has a higher resolution of 50MP, as well as autofocus, touch-to-focus, and face detection for more clear photo output.
When you launch the camera app, you are presented with five pre-existing shooting modes to choose from: Portrait, Photo, Video, Vlog Movie, or Night mode.
Vlog Movie mode, with a ready set of vlog templates, you can create short videos in 5 to 6 segments, then combine them all after you’re done recording, and post them right away on your social media channels.
High-Resolution mode, Pano, Live Photo, Slo-mo, Time-lapse, PRO mode, AR Stickers, Documents, Double Exposure, and Dual View are also available in the camera app.
When using the 64MP main camera in daylight or bright conditions, we get nice images with lots of details, images that are clear, colors that appear pure, and a wide dynamic range.
For the portrait shots, our photos have good details and the colors are still natural. It also produces nice bokeh in the background, but the corners of the subject can sometimes capture that bit of blur as well. You can also adjust the bokeh degree or amount of blur. Aside from the bokeh filter, there are several beauty filters and multi-style portrait filters.
Finally, the macro shots were not bad either. When taken in bright light, the quality is good, but only when we zoom in are the details a little soft.
During good lighting conditions, the front-facing camera captured some really good selfies that are clear with sharp details, good skin tone, and decent color tones. Selfies taken in low light conditions will have noise and will appear muddy.
The Vivo V25’s main and front cameras can record videos in a variety of resolutions, beginning with 4K quality at 30fps. While 1080p and 720p can record both frame rates at 30fps and 60fps on both front and back.
The Vivo V25 has a stabilization feature that allows for clear and stable footage. You can select either standard or ultra stabilization mode, which works only in 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second. The frame is heavily cropped when using the ultra-stabilization mode.
CONCLUSION
The Vivo V25 is without a doubt an excellent premium mid-range phone to consider. It has good aesthetics and a solid build, as well as a color-changing back cover that makes it trendy.
The display on this phone is vivid and bright, and multitasking is a breeze. This is a good option if you want a phone with a good camera. It has a decent battery that will last an average user a day.
Overall, the Vivo V25 is an outstanding mid-range phone with a slew of outstanding built-in features that other phones in its class lack. The Vivo V25 costs PHP23,999 and is available in all Vivo concept stores nationwide, as well as through its online and e-commerce stores.
