On December 6, actress Nadine Lustre asserted that she did not want to delete her viral Mang Tomas photo.
At the media conference for Deleter, which LionhearTV covered, Lustre said she felt entertained by the impact of her viral photo in Siargao.
“I would not delete it.
“Personally, I was really — I think, entertained when that photo came out. Sobrang gusto ko ‘yung reactions ng mga tao. Especially, yung mga reactions na–‘yung may mga nag-edit, may mga nag-photoshop ng sarili nila sa photo. May mga tao talaga na noong nasa Siargao sila, nag-photo sila doon. Mayroon pang iba na ginawang costume noong Halloween.”
She also noted that she’s a fan of memes which made her more amused by the viral photo.
“So, hindi, hindi ko siya ide-delete. Ako, sobrang na-amuse ako, and personally, I’m a huge fan– gusto ko ‘yung mga memes, gusto ko ‘yung may mga videos, so nakakatuwa na makita ko ‘yung sarili ko sa mga photos na ganyan.”
The said photo went viral in 2021 when netizens spotted the actress buying a bottle of Mang Tomas in a market in Siargao while wearing plain clothes.
\As for her upcoming movie, Deleter features a powerhouse acting cast with Lustre, McCoy De Leon, Jeffrey Hidalgo, and Louise De Los Reyes.
She described the effort of the entire cast of Deleter as them putting their best foot forward.
“I think for this film, talagang lahat po, proud kami kasi best foot forward po kami. ‘Yung buong effort namin, binigay namin. Katulad nga po ng sabi ko, dugo’t pawis, kape, ‘yun po talaga ‘yung binigay namin dito. So we’re very, very excited and we’re very, very proud of Deleter.”
The Metro Manila Film Festival 2022 entry, directed by Mikhail Red and produced by Viva Films, Deleter opens on December 25, Christmas Day.
