On December 6, director Mikhail Red shared detailed updates about the status of the HBO Asia Original dark fantasy thriller television series Halfworlds.
At the media conference for Deleter, which LionhearTV covered, Red confirmed that the third season of Halfworlds is currently in post-production.
“Last time na parang update niya, we’re in post-[production], so hanggang doon na lang muna. Kasi, I’m waiting for more information from the producers. Pero, we finished the online edit, actually nagv-VFX na kami ngayon. So fingers crossed, sana ma-release na finally.”
He also recounted the challenges of taping a series amid the pandemic.
“Kasi I think ‘yung HBO may transition na, may acquisition na nangyayari with Warner [Bros.] everything’s moving around, pero tapos na ‘yun, na shoot na namin. Actually, pandemic era din ‘yun, so very tough shoot.
“So we’re [very] lucky na we still get to make, kahit papaano, ambitious genre films. Akala namin, medyo magis-stop na during the pandemic, parang everyone was finding ways to tell stories at a smaller scale, at ibang distribution platforms di ba?”
He also noted that things are slowly returning to normal, especially with the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival 2022.
“And then buti na lang, things are opening up, and ngayon with MMFF, parang back-to-normal na, may [big] entries na from big studios, so fingers crossed, sana tuloy-tuloy na so we can make more films.”
As for Halfworlds, the series features Philippine stars such as Bianca Umali and Sam Concepcion.
As for his film, Deleter stars Nadine Lustre, McCoy De Leon, Jeffrey Hidalgo, and Louise De Los Reyes.
Directed by Mikhail Red and produced by Viva Films, Deleter opens on December 25, Christmas Day.
