The young male star has the distinction of becoming the first GMA Sparkle artist to star in an international film in Singapore.
Promising Kapuso Kimson Tan, has this one philosophy in life that seems to drive him forward constantly: “If there’s an opportunity for you to do, grab it habang meron, kahit walang kasiguraduhan.”
The newly-signed GMA Sparkle artist beamed with pride when he talked about his upcoming international film, King of Hawkers, which will film in Singapore next year. The producers told the press that Tan is the first choice to play the highly-coveted lead role in the said film.
Tan is one of the newest Kapuso stars who signed with the Network’s talent management arm, GMA Sparkle, on December 2. Given the relatively shorter time, he spent in the industry, bagging the role in a big international movie is definitely something one would expect for a newbie like him.
One can say the timing is ‘right,’ but there seemed to have other great things that the producers saw in Tan, that convinced them the young actor is the right choice.
That said, scoring such a career-defining project may not have been possible without the support of his Network and talent management. Kimson took his chance to thank GMA Network for the support it has been giving him in his career.
“I am really happy and thankful sa buong network ko, GMA, and of course sa management ko, Sparkle GMA and sa AOR Group na rin. They really made my dream come true. Kumbaga, ‘yung pangarap ko unti unti ko nang nakikita, nagbubukas na ‘yung daan para makamit ko siya,.
“(I am really happy and thankful to my home network, GMA Network, and of course my talent agency, Sparkle, and also to the AOR Group. They really made my dream come true. I can now see the realization of my dreams on the horizon, and the path to reach them has been slowly being laid out),” said Tan, who paid tribute to his Network and talent agency.
He also did not forget to express his deep gratitude to his Singaporean producers, who according to him, gambled on him and trusted his talents. “I’m just really thankful for taking risk on me, with AOR, with Miss Priscilla and Direk Kelvin Sng and Chef John. For taking the risk sa akin, kahit na alam nila na bago pa lang ako pero binigyan nila ako ng opportunity para maipakita ako ang talents ko at skills ko sa international stage. Sobrang overwhelming po talaga.
“(I’m just thankful to them for taking the risk on me despite being a newbie…they still gave me the opportunity to showcase my talents and skills on the international stage. It is really overwhelming),” he shared.
Tan shared that he is yet to learn the full details of the film, including the script and the actors he will be working with.
He said he has been trying to get “in the feels of the kitchen” by cooking new dishes, as the film will tackle Asian cuisine and cooking. Next year, he will be flying to Singapore to [officially] commence his workshops for the film.
