On November 21, actor Kiko Estrada confessed that he wasn’t the first choice for Us X Her.
At the media conference for ‘Us X Her’ which LionhearTV covered, Estrada recalled how he got his role in the Vivamax film, citing how much he loved the script.
“I got this a day before we shot. I was not supposed to be in this project. And then I read the script for two hours, tapos I got a phone call from Direk Jules, and I had to say yes kasi sobrang ganda ng script. And yeah, thank you for that.”
Estrada further affirmed the challenge he faced taking over the role.
The young actor revealed, “That’s why I was so nervous. Usually, I have three reads, five reads with the script, but this was just one read with the [script.] So kaya a while ago, sinasabi ko rin na I’m really nervous, kasi usually– I have six, five, ten reads, this was just one read with Direk’s supervision.”
Director Jules Katanyag explained that they first cast Diego Loyzaga but had to change plans since the Viva actor got sick.
The director explained, “So iniisip pa namin kung aantayin pa namin siya gumaling or imo-move namin ‘yung shoot. Eh kaso, hindi na– ‘yung time, kukulangin na. So, pinilit ko na baka si Kiko pwede. Sana pwede si Kiko. Tapos kinausap siya.”
Estrada also revealed how he talked to Loyzaga about taking over the role. Estrada narrated, “Actually, a blessing because I already wanted the script. When I read it, actually tinawagan ko si Diego, kasi we’re close…And then, he told me that he was too sick to do it, and he told me to go.”
He then clarified that he considered the role a blessing, noting that it would have been childish if he minded people’s opinions about him taking over the character.
‘Us X Her’ stars Angeli Khang, AJ Raval, and Kiko Estrada. The film also features Bob Jbeili, Shehyee, and MJ Cayabyab.
Under the direction of Jules Katanyag, ‘Us X Her’ is currently streaming on Vivamax.
