Eat Bulaga! host Joey De Leon admitted he was a ‘bit bitter’ after Toni Gonzaga left GMA Network for ABS-CBN.
In 2002, Gonzaga was one of the main hosts of the longest-running afternoon variety show Eat Bulaga! But she transferred to ABS-CBN and later became the host of Pinoy Big Brother in 2004.
During the grand mediacon for their MMFF 2022 entry My Teacher on December 12, De Leon admitted that he was previously bitter about Gonzaga’s transfer.
“Wala, eh, baby namin ‘to, eh. So, wala. Hindi mo naman… selfish lang kami noon, pero good for her. Natutuwa kami sa nangyari. ‘Yun lang. Nakikita ko naman ‘to, eh.
“So, masaya ako sa sinapit ni Celestine (real name ni Toni). Buti napangasawa mo si Paul, ‘di ba? Sipsip sa direktor!” he said.
On the other hand, Gonzaga said she and De Leon stayed in touch even after transferring to the other network.
“Mag-boyfriend pa lang kami ni Paul, tapos in-invite niya kami, dinner,” she said.
Joey De Leon and Toni Gonzaga will star in the 2022 film My Teacher. Paul Soriano, Gonzaga’s husband, directed the entry for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
It’s the first time Joey and Toni will work again on a project after Eat Bulaga.
The two stars are on good terms since 2011 during de Leon’s guesting on The Buzz–they didn’t still get the chance to work together.
