The best-selling and award-winning OPM artist Ice Seguerra was joined by his wife, Liza Diño, as guests who will observe and take part in the final stage of the Star Magic workshops in Toronto, Canada.
Seguerra recognizes that training plays a vital part in an aspiring artist’s bid to make a mark in the industry. During the press conference of the Star Magic workshops in Toronto, Canada, where he and his wife were both guest speakers and mentors, she took the chance to impart a thing or two about the value of training, especially to those who belong to the LGBTQIA+ community.
“Training is very important. I don’t think I would be a singer if it were not for my training,” he shared, noting how his training in the past molded him into the better artist that he is today. He shared that like his wife, he was also a fan of the ‘Chabbuck’ training, which Star Magic Workshops head, Direk Rahyan Carlos has been using for years, in his acting classes.
“I think what’s nice about the Chabbuck training is, hindi lang kasi it will help you with your craft eh. I think it helps you also sa personality mo? Sa character mo bilang tao, because you get to look inside yourself. So, it helps a lot,” he noted.
Seguerra also took the chance of imparting inspiration to his fellow LGBTQIA+ members, who are also trying their luck at showbiz. He underscored the importance of authenticity to be able to get the world into noticing you and your talent.
“For my LGBTQIA+ people, I think it’s the time for us. As an artist, you can actually fuse your own story and serve as fuel for your artistry. There are so many things that you want to say, and there are so many things you want to express. You can use acting. You can use singing di ba, to be just who you are and express who you are to the world,” he shared.
“I don’t think I would be my authentic self if, one point or another, may tinago ako. But because I am me, I can really sing for my heart. I know that when I perform on the stage, the people who will watch can see my soul,” he added.
Seguerra has been in the entertainment business for more than three decades. He has appeared in various movies and TV shows already. He has made a mark in the recording business, having released multiple platinum-selling albums and singles. He has been married to actress, Diño, since 2014.
