On December 26, reports surfaced about the unofficial top-grossing films for the first day of the Metro Manila Film Festival 2022, with Partners in Crime, Deleter, Family Matters, and Labyu with an Accent leading the list.
Netizens noticed that Toni Gonzaga’s My Teacher wasn’t part of the list of the highest-earning films for the MMFF2022.
As a result, people speculated that Gonzaga’s upcoming 20th-anniversary concert, I Am Toni, in January 2023, would reflect the same result as her MMFF 2022 film entry.
Yung movie nga 300 pesos lang bayad nilangaw pa tapos concert libo-libo bayad aasa pa? Dapat title nyan hind 'I AM TONI' dapat "I AM DELUSIONAL".

Others also noted the expensive ticket prices for the upcoming music event.
kahit di yan apologist i will not pay 10k to hear her sing. She can carry a tune yeah but she is no singer! Kahit yung di inikutan ng judges sa The Voice e milya milya ang layo ng talent sa kanya. https://t.co/8uYwiBTbGc

So apparently, the movie of the "most powerful celebrity" is being pulled out of theaters barely two days after it premiered due to poor ticket sales—to none at all—and is being replaced with VG's movie. I say DASUUURV!

Earlier, netizens pushed to boycott Shopee’s 11.11 sale because of Gonzaga’s endorsements. This event seems translated with her MMFF2022 film, with moviegoers claiming that the movie had low income.
Others criticized the film’s overall quality.
Just watched #MyTeacher earlier. Di sulit yung 310 pesos ko. Sana pinangkain ko na lang. The plot was too weak. The acting was so-so.
Word of advice, if you are a #MMFF2022 fan, choose where you spend your 300+ pesos wisely.

Some also slammed Director Paul Soriano’s earlier statement about Gonzaga being ‘the most powerful celebrity today.’
From most powerful celebrity to goodbye, teacher?

Soriano claimed at a press conference for My Teacher that his wife, Gonzaga, is ‘the most powerful celebrity today’ with all the criticisms she received from other personalities.
Additionally, Eat Bulaga host Joey De Leon, who worked with Gonzaga, agreed with Soriano’s comment.
Netizens persistently criticized Gonzaga after leaving her home network and supporting President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr‘s presidential campaign.
Her upcoming 20th-anniversary concert, I Am Toni, happens on January 20, 2023, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
