On November 30, Kapamilya actress Nikki Valdez revealed she got emotional when Star Magic gave her the Loyalty Award given to artists who have been with the Network for 25 years.
At the media conference of Labyu with an Accent, Valdez recounted when she started as a Kapamilya star in 1997.
“Iyak ako ng iyak kasi nga hindi ko akalain na dadating sa point ng career ko na ma-awardan ng 25 years. Nakakatanda, pero tatanggapin ko. March 9, 1997 ‘yung launch ko sa ABS-CBN, ASAP Batch four kami.”
She also felt touched when the Kapamilya Network showed a tribute video highlighting her 25-year career.
“And ‘yun in my 25-year running career, it’s just nice to be–to be still here.
“Oo naka-touch ‘yung ganon. So ‘yung bago nila binigay ‘yung award, nagulat ako ng plinay nila ‘yung dati naming palabas, mga movies, ayun nakakatuwa, sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam.”
She then expressed gratitude to the Kapamilya Network for recognizing her hardwork over the years.
“I’m just thankful na kumbaga, noong nagsisimula ka, hindi mo naman maiisip, puro pangarap ka lang di ba? So para umabot ng 25 years at nandito pa rin. Kasi ‘yung trabaho namin, we come ang go. So I’m just thankful na na-recognize ‘yung hardwork, at tsaka nabibigyan ako ng pagkakataon to be working with all these artists and more.”
She then shared her experience working with Coco Martin, attesting to the actor/director’s talent in filmmaking.
“May mga director at ngayon si Coco nagdi-direct na rin. Nakapag guest ako sa Ang Probinsyano, pero hindi pa siya ‘yung director. ‘Yung episode namin ni [Angelica Panganiban.]
“So ngayon, after 2016 ‘yun, it’s a different experience to be working with Coco again as a director naman. At ‘yung shinare naman nilang lahat, maganda, ‘yung di mo ma-explain, it’s magical. Mayroon siyang pulso sa pagdi-direk.”
