On December 4, writer/director Cathy Camarillo reacted to people comparing her digital series ‘Tara G’ to the beloved teen drama ‘Tabing Ilog’.
At the media conference for ‘Tara G’ Camarillo appreciated the heartwarming feedback for the youth-oriented series.
She also noted that Tara G is a new era for friendship-themed series, wherein they can help promote young artists. The director shared, “Actually, it’s the new era for a group– group movies that we can rely on, tell stories about friendship again, and [we can] push a lot of new characters and new artists that will play along in the entertainment industry.”
She then shared the production’s vision of reintroducing teen dramas and new talents. She further explained, “Actually, hindi pa eh. Hindi pa mission accomplished because when we did this ang vision namin ay, of course, to bring a lot of platforms for new stories of friendship and a new breed of artists. So ‘yung mission is ito, ‘yung first season ng Tara G, I accomplished in a way na ma-i-launch sila. Okay, of course the longevity of it is ‘yung makilala niyo pa sila ng mas matagal dito sa industriya natin.”
As for Tara G, the digital series stars Vivoree Esclito, Daniela Stranner, Anthony Jennings, Zachary Castañeda, Kaori Oinuma, CJ Salonga, and JC Alcantara.
The series’ season finale, directed by Cathy Camarillo, will air this Friday (December 9) at 8 p.m. (Manila time).
The series is available to premium subscribers outside of the Philippines for free on the iWantTFC app (iOS and Android) and website (iwanttfc.com).
