On December 20, Mentorque Productions head Bryan Diamante highlighted how they are pushing the boundaries with their R-18 Metro Manila Film 2022 film, My Father, Myself.
At the premiere night of My Father, Myself, covered by LionhearTV, Diamante emphasized how the production knew their market before completing the film.
“It’s [something] that we’re really pushing the boundaries, we’re trying to [push] it, and as of the moment, we know our market. We started doing this film, alam namin ang aming merkado. And siguro, pagdating doon, siyempre, iba-iba ang perception, pag-receive, pagtanggap, and we respect MTRCB on doing their job. Hindi kami, as of the moment, I think, is somewhat of a challenge, but it’s a challenge we will take.”
He also appreciated MMFF 2022 for being diverse and inclusive with their entries for this year.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa MMFF for being diversified, for being inclusive, pagiging inclusive niya sa pagsali ng pelikula namin. Because, to be honest, the reality is there’s– hindi lang ordinaryong pamilya ang pamilya na nasa Pilipinas.
“And then ito, kagaya nga ng sabi ni Direk Joel, ay kapupulutan ng aral. So ‘yun din ‘yung gusto namin, bakit namin talaga pinush talaga ito and nakikita naman siguro ‘yun ng selection committee.”
He then expressed excitement seeing Filipino audience return to cinemas after a long hiatus because of the pandemic.
“To have people really go out and watch movies sa mga cinemas no. And bukod doon, doon ako talaga excited na kinakabahan.”
He cited the success of Mentorque Productions in its first year of venturing into films.
“I’m ready for whatever it is. As of the moment– wherever we are right now, it’s already a victory for me. Nasaan man kami ngayon, we are very, very happy. And whatever the outcome is, we’ll definitely be happy. And hindi naman talaga ganoon kadali. And basically, talagang sino naman ‘yung makaka-isip, first time ko to venture into films this year and we ended up ending this year with MMFF. So I cannot ask for more.”
