King of Talk Boy Abunda admitted that the ABS-CBN network tried to stop him from moving to the GMA Network.
On December 18, Boy Abunda was interviewed by Jessica Soho which aired live on YouTube. This was the first interview he had since his transfer to GMA on December 18.
When asked why he returned to GMA, Abunda explained that he would always find his way home.
“Kahit saan ka mapunta, always find your way back home. Ang dami-daming pinagdaanan pero naniniwala ako that somehow, you’re led back home,” he said.
Abunda was with GMA from 1995-1999 before he moved to ABS-CBN.
As a result of the pandemic and the ABS-CBN franchise dispute, he decided to move to other networks.
Despite ABS-CBN’s attempts to stop him from moving, Abunda consulted with his Kapamilya bosses before moving.
The TV host shared, “Nakipag-usap ako nang masinsinan. Pinigilan ako pero kaming lahat nag-aagree kame na wala na man akong mapupuntahan.”
His last show with ABS-CBN was Tonight with Boy Abunda (TWBA) and The Bottomline. But he lost his shows when ABS-CBN’s franchise was not renewed.
He then adapted to a digital platform with The Boy Abunda Talk Channel but he still wanted to be on the television platform.
Abunda explained, “I need to work on television, hindi ako digital maker…Ayoko mawala ‘yung passion ko sa pag-iinterview kaya inaral ko ‘yung YouTube.”
Boy Abunda’s move was first teased on December 7, the Kapuso network posted a teaser about a ‘showbiz icon’ returning to the Network.
