Actress Aiko Melendez shared her sentiments on the recent celebrity snubbing controversy involving popular volleyball players.
In a lengthy Facebook post on Thursday, December 8, Melendez shared her two cents with regard to celebrities’ role to their fans.
“My take and View sa pagiging snob ng mga artista. Ako kasi kapag me bumabati sa akin o magpapapicture kahit gaano na ako kapagod pinagbibigyan ko, Ang rason ko lagi hindi naman naten alam kung first and last encounter mo na dun sa taong yun eh.”
She also said saying hi or waving to your fans should not be a big deal except during inappropriate circumstances.
“So ung mga simpleng gestures like saying HI! Or pagbigyan ng picture taking ok lang yan. Hindi naman kawalan sa pagkatao nyo yan.
“Pwera nalang kung Asa ER ka ng hospital at hindi naman tama ang right timing pwede ka tumanggi. Lahat me right timing eh. Like sa pagpunta sa mga lamay at patay as much as possible ayaw ko po nagpapapicture sa tabi ng kabaong kasi bilang tanda ng aking respeto yun sa namatay at namatayan kaya dun sa mga nagpapakuha inaaya ko sila sa ibang angle tara dun tayo sa independent space”
The actress-turned-politician reiterated that, as public figures, celebrities should always cater to their fans and give them some the time when they are in public places.
“Ang Artista, Politicians, athletes influencers etc Considered as a Public figure give credit also to your fans na iniidolo kayo ung simpleng time mo. If you want your fans to respect your private time, I suggest don’t go to public places otherwise hindi mo talaga maiiwasan na me matuwa na nakakakilala syo ang mag hi and hello or papakuha ng picture sa inyo.
In the end, Melendez left a word of wisdom.
“Tandaan Humility! Fame is all temporary, but right attitude lasts a lifetime.”
Aiko’s reaction stemmed from the recent controversy involving the Choco Mucho volleyball team.
The Choco Mucho Flying Titans volleyball team recently drew flak on social media after netizens called out some of their players for snubbing fans in a video and went viral online.
Meanwhile, Aiko is currently part of the Kapuso primetime drama Mano Po Legacy: The Flower Sisters together with Beauty Gonzalez, Thea Tolentino, and Angel Guardian.
