On November 24, Viva sexy male star Sean De Guzman admitted that he got hurt by netizens’ comments about My Father, Myself.
At the media conference for the movie, which LionhearTV covered, De Guzman recounted the comments from netizens who saw the trailer for the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry.
“Masakit siya minsan, ‘yung iba kasi mababasa mo sinasabi nila na, ‘Ayan, ano, akala ko ba ang MMFF pang family. Ba’t maselan, ba’t may ganitong entry?’ ‘Yung hindi pa man nila napapanood, jina-judge na nila.”
However, he acknowledged that the harsh feedback from viewers is free publicity.
“Pero, good thing is napag-uusapan tayo. So may laman, mayroong kumbaga content na mapapanood sa atin. And I’m happy na ‘yung tao, ‘yung ibang tao, sinusuportahan pa rin kami. And proud ako dito sa film namin, dahil unang-una kay Direk Joel Lamangan ‘to and of course, napakalaki at napakagagaling ng mga kasama ko na artista, especially si Kuya Jake, Ate Dimples, and si Tiffany.
“Sana po, wag nating i-judge ‘tong pelikula natin, hangga’t hindi ninyo pa napapanood.”
As for his co-stars, Jake Cuenca praised De Guzman’s talent and commitment as an actor.
“And then wala kasing reluctancy si Sean, as in ‘yun din po ‘yung sinabi ko noong unang story con natin, I see so much potential and talagang tumatangkilik ako kay Sean. He’s made a fan out of me after this movie, kasi talaga namang napaka professional as an actor.”
Dimples Romana also expressed appreciation for De Guzman and Cuenca in doing their intimate scenes in the film.
“Coming off of seeing the scenes of Jake and Sean, the level of professionalism from these two actors, kahit ako siguro, aaminin ko, hindi ko kayang gawin, so the [level of] respect I have for these two is very, very high.”
My Father, Myself also stars Dimples Romana and Tiffany Grey, under the direction of Joel Lamangan and co-production of 3:16 Media Network and Mentorque Productions. The MMFF entry will open on December 25, Christmas Day.
