On November 5, Richard Gutierrez talked about the differences between his former show, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, and his upcoming show of the same genre, The Iron Heart, where he will plays the title role.
“Yung ginagawa namin ‘tong Iron Heart, we really wanted to shift away from Probinsyano. Especially ‘yung character ko. Well, malayo naman talaga. Kasi sa Probinsyano, parang naging villain ako doon.
“Yung Probinsyano kasi, very classic approach siya sa action. Most of the action scenes are gun fights. Hindi ko masiyado rin napakita ‘yung capabilities ko sa action sa Probinsyano. So we wanted to showcase everything here sa The Iron Heart.”
The actor emphasized that the approach of action scenes in The Iron Heart–will be modernized.
“We wanted more hand-to-hand combat. We wanted a more modern approach in terms of cinematography… We really wanted to show something different in terms of action.” Gutierrez highlighted.
Also, he shared the things he learned from doing Ang Probinsyano. He mentioned that it was beneficial for him while doing The Iron Heart.
“Natutunan ko sa FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, siguro ‘yung how to adapt ‘yung bilis sa pagshoot ng production. Kasi alam naman nating lahat na sa Probinsyano, wala kaming script doon. And mabilisan ‘yung galawan doon,” the actor stated.
“Actually, it’s a good test for actors. To be part of something like that. Kasi matetest talaga ‘yung capabilities mo as artist. Yung patience mo. Everything.”
Gutierrez portrayed one of the villains of Coco Martin in Ang Probinsyano. Now, he will play the title role for The Iron Heart.
Joining Gutierrez in the series are Maja Salvador, Sue Ramirez, Jake Cuenca, Dimples Romana, Pepe Herrera, Baron Geisler, Sofia Andres, Kyle Echarri, Diether Ocampo, Albert Martinez, Enzo Pineda, Althea Ruedas, and Meryll Soriano.
The Iron Heart will premiere on November 14 on ABS-CBN.
