On November 9, ABS-CBN business unit head Mr. Reily Santiago addressed the rumors that there was another option for Dream Maker’s main host aside from Kim Chiu.
Answering the question if former PBB host Toni Gonzaga was the said to be the first choice, Santiago slammed hearsay by responding, “When we pitch it to management, wala, ano talaga. Good choice [Chiu and Ryan Bang].”
According to Santiago, Chiu and Bang’s hosting dynamics was already proven well on It’s Showtime.
“Nakita mo na rin ‘yung combination na ‘yan sa Showtime. Kapag nagtranslate ‘yan sa primetime, si Ryan is a kuya here for the dream chasers. Then si Kim, she’s a dreamer as well.”
Santiago emphasized, “We truly believe in the talents of Kim and Ryan.”
The unit chief also mentioned that the partnership between ABS-CBN, MLD Entertainment, and Kamp Korea is initiated by Mr. Lee who believes that the next big thing will come from the Philippines.
Dream Maker will focus on honing the talent of aspiring male pop idols who will be trained by a panel of Korean trainers and Filipino mentors.
Aside from Chiu and Bang, the talent search will feature Filipino mentors Darren Espanto, Bailey May, and Angeline Quinto.
Premiering on November 19 and 20, Dream Maker will air every Saturday and Sunday on ABS-CBN.
