Keempee de Leon discussed how he differs from his father, Joey de Leon, as an actor on October 20.
De Leon admitted to mimicking some of his father’s mannerisms during the media conference for ‘Mahal Kita Beksman,’ which LionhearTV covered.
“Ever since naman Tita, noong pumasok ako ng showbiz, hindi na mawawala kasi nga anak nga ni Joey, so hindi na mawawala ‘yung sabihin ng tao na “copy cat” ka ng Tatay mo. Hindi ko rin maalis kasi anak ako, nandoon din talaga ‘yung mannerisms ko, siguro ‘yung boldness.”
De Leon stressed when he works on a project, his character is portrayed differently from his dad’s.Â
He then stated that he felt pressure to succeed in show business because of his father’s achievements. He stated that the pressure has been on him since he began in show business; people expect too much of him because both of his parents are in the industry.
He then recounted the advice he got from his father when sustaining an acting career. According to him his Dad, Joey de Leon’s style is like a shotgun’s bullet; that he should not concentrate on playing just one role. He continued, ” Dapat andiyan ‘yung marunong kang umarte, marunong kang maghosting, marunong kang kumanta, gampanan ‘yung different characters…kilangan mo lang gampanan ng mabuti kung anong trabaho ang ibigay sayo and lagi mong ia-appreciate.”
Keempee de Leon stars in the Viva romantic comedy movie ‘Mahal Kita, Beksman with Christian Bables, Katya Santos, and Iana Bernardez.
Directed by Perci Intalan and under the production of Viva and IdeaFirst, ‘Mahal Kita, Beksman’ premieres in Cinemas Nationwide, starting November 16.
