At the media conference for Kara Krus on October 27, director GB Sampedro attested to Denise Esteban’s improvement throughout her career.
Sampedro noted Esteban’s growth in acting from the first projects they worked on together.
“Si Denise dito, sa akin din kasi nag start si Denise sa Doblado, so nakita ko ‘yung improvement niya from first na pagsasama namin, and then hanggang sa nagka-High On Sex na rin kami, and then ito nga.
“So nakita ko ‘yung ano niya, ‘yung patuloy na pag-improve niya, to the raw talent na raw acting niya noon. Tapos makikita mo na inaaral niya, na nag-iimprove ‘yung quality ng performance niya.
“So ako, I’m more than satisfied sa pinakita niya at ginawa niya dito sa pelikula.”
As for Esteban, she discussed the challenges she faced in her roles in Kara Krus, especially shifting between the two characters.
“Sa ano po siguro, ‘yung pag-shift ko ng character and ‘yung sa mga ibang love scene din, ‘yun po, ‘yun po kasing sa ibang pag-shift ng character, kailangan ko po kasing pag-ibahin ‘yun–ipakita sa mga viewers na nag-iiba ‘yung tao na nakaharap sa screen. Tapos sa love scene din iba, kasi ang daming posisyon.”
She then recounted the tips she received from Sampedro while filming on set.
“Siguro ang natandaan ko lang pong sinabi nila sa akin is, pag nandito ako kay Adela, isipin ko lang na ako si Adela, huwag kong isipin si Lena kasi maghahalo ‘yung character. And so pag lumipat kay Lena, iisipin ko na ako ‘to si Lena, wala akong asawa, wild ako.”
Kara Krus stars Esteban, Adrian Alandy, and Felix Roco. The film includes other Vivamax artists such as Joko Diaz, Ali Asistio, Andrew Muhlach, Garry Lim, Phoemela Baranda, Ali Khatibi, Billy Villeta, Raquel Monteza, Aurora Sevilla, Alona Navarro, Mickey Ferriols, Manu Respall, and Lhian Gimeno.
