On November 7, artist Enzo Pineda affirmed that he considered his romantic partner’s virginity a bonus, but not that important.
At the media conference for the film, Call Me Papi, Pineda explained that it is his preference to build a connection with his significant other.
“Ako naman in this day and age, para sa akin virginity is very/ important, but I think it’s really the bonus na lang. Ang hinahabol lang naman natin when it comes to the relationship is the partnership with you and that special person, kung nagko-connect ba kayo? If you share the same goals and dreams? Are you at the right time in your lives that you should be together? Di ba?”
He then acknowledged the conservative traditions of Filipinos regarding virginity.
“I mean para sa akin, maliit naman siyang factor, but I guess for us Filipinos, we have this personality na mas conservative, mas okay, di ba? Pero, I don’t think na it matters nowadays. Kasi, it’s one small thing in a big pie of what a good relationship is.”
He then discussed his thoughts on marriage, citing how much he valued it.
“Of course. Yes, I do, especially nowadays– I really value marriage. Someday, kung ikakasal ako, I will make sure na that person is the one, through thick or thin. Kasi nowadays, especially in this day and age, maraming nagpapakasal, naghihiwalay din in the end. So parang nasisira ‘yung value ng marriage.”
He also talked about what marriage means to him and the commitment the union requires in a couple.
“Kung gusto natin ikasal someday, we have to make sure that this person is the one. Of course, iisipin ng mga tao, marriage is an escape–marriage is a gateway to happiness, na kapag kinasal ka, mas magiging masaya ang buhay mo, but from my understanding,
“I think it’s more of patience and understanding talaga ang marriage kasi pag ‘yung mga couples kasi may pinagdadaanan sa buhay hindi naman porket na kinasal ka, expect mo na sasaya ‘yung buhay mo. So pag kinasal ka, expect that you’re committed to that person through thick and thin.”
Pineda’s current significant other is the Kapamilya star, Michelle Vito.
As for their upcoming movie, Call Me Papi stars Pineda, Albie Casiño, Royce Cabrera, Lharby Policarpio, and Aaron Concepcion.
Call Me Papi, produced by Viva Films and Feast Foundation and under the direction of Alvin Yapan. It will premiere in cinemas on December 7.
