Director Freidric Macapagal Cortez highlighted that he wanted to normalize sexy scenes in movies through his directorial debut.
At the media conference for ‘Alapaap’ which LionhearTV covered, Cortez highlighted the importance of creating a film that depicts sexual interactions as a normal part of life.
“Ang importance nito is to ano eh, para sa akin, is to normalize ‘yung mga sexy scenes, because in real life naman, it’s normal naman to have those scenes naman talaga. So I think when we include that in our films, it shows na this is what people do in their everyday life.”
A film noir treatment of Alapaap was discussed between him and director Brillante Mendoza.
Cortez shared, “…We treated this film as a film noir, so very experimental siya, even from how we edited it and how/ we shot it, and then sa post-production after offline editing. So I think that is /going to/ be the big difference between this film and all the other sexy genre films.”
He then assessed the actors’ performance in the movie, citing that the cast immersed themselves in their roles.
Cortez explained that the actors had to do more than just act; they also had to shoot or be part of the crew, which he believes the actors did well.
He also revealed, “Ang casting process namin dito, we just had to look for people na pwedeng pumasang filmmakers, and ito na ‘yung mga cast natin mukha naman din silang filmmakers.”
Alapaap stars Kat Dovey, Josef Elizalde, Angela Morena, Andrea Garcia, Chesca Paredes, Ali Asistio, and Luke Selby.
The supporting cast includes Cristina Gonzales, Carlene Aguilar, Alona Navarro, Tanya Gomez, Lander Vera-Perez, Christopher Roxas, Ali Khatibi, Erlinda Villalobos, Isadora, and Chad Solano.
