GMA Network’s award-winning weekly anthology, Daig Kayo Ng Lola Ko, celebrates the spooky season with its 4-week Halloween special ‘Game Over’ beginning this Sunday (November 6).
The month-long special is top-billed by multi-talented Kapuso actress Carla Abellana as Lorraine, Will Ashley as Luigi, Althea Ablan as Jade, Matt Lozano as Tiny, Luis Hontiveros as Red, and Cassy Legaspi as Lara.
Carla recounts how excited she was to shoot this thriller series especially because she is a fan of horror movies, “Maganda na we get the opportunity to explore other genres na break sa nakasanayan naming heavy drama. Kakaiba ito, talagang pinaghandaan hanggang sa cinematography at effects. Makaka-relate rin sila lalo na ang mga mahilig sa mobile games at K-Drama. Pang-Gen Z at young adults talaga ito.”
Cassy reveals that she portrayed one of her dream roles in this series, “Magiging zombie ako rito and may action which is something I want to dive into. May romcom and horror din. I had so much fun, and I learned a lot with this project. GMA has never done this concept before, so it’s super worth it!”
Meanwhile, Althea recalls that she was challenged with her character as a fierce young lady who fights zombies, “Gusto ni Direk Rico (Gutierrez) na iba-iba ang atake sa bawat role, so sa akin ang daming fight scenes. Dapat maangas talaga at maipakita na sanay akong makipaglaban. Challenging siya but sobrang masaya ako sa ginampanan kong role.”
Playing the villain in the series definitely challenged Matt, “Medyo nanibago ako kasi ito ‘yung first guesting ko after Voltes V: Legacy. Ang laking difference niya sa character ko as Big Bert. Pero dahil sa prosthetics, nakaka-jump ako agad sa character ko as Tiny na kontrabida sa loob ng game.”
Will shares that he enjoyed both their fight scenes and their bonding moments during off-cam, “Isa ito sa work na gusto ko talagang gawin, ‘yung intense action. Happy rin ako kasi sobrang light ng set namin, puro tawanan lang kahit ang eksena is makikipag-away kami sa zombies.”
Luis, on the other hand, feels ecstatic to be part of this action-packed Halloween special, “Dream come true siya, rejoicing ang feeling. Damang-dama namin ang bawat character at first time kong ma-experience ‘yung ganitong concept na full of action. Bigay todo talaga kami sa pakikipaglaban at full force sa pagbuo ng bawat episode.”
‘Game Over’ follows the story of a strict but loving sister Lorraine (Carla), who juggles her career with her responsibilities at home. Lorraine struggles to take her siblings away from distractions such as Lara’s (Cassy) fascination with K-Dramas and Luigi’s (Will) addiction to mobile games.
Much to her surprise, Lorraine discovers that Luigi is falling in love with Jade (Althea), the lead character in his favorite game of zombies. Lorraine wanted to stop Luigi from playing by confiscating his tablet. But he insists on keeping it so that he can see Jade.
As Lorraine puts the gadget away from her brother, she suddenly gets warped and enters the video game. Amid his shock, Luigi decides to follow his sister.
Meanwhile, Lara gets worried as she notices that her brother is missing. She looks for Luigi with the help of her schoolmate, Red (Luis). But they were stunned to see Lorraine and Luigi in the mobile game. Lara plays it and tries to save her siblings. But things got out of hand, so they just went inside the game.
Will Lorraine be able to save her siblings? What lessons will they learn from playing while trying to survive the world of zombies? Will the siblings make it out alive?
The series is made possible under the supervision of GMA SVP for Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable; VP for Drama Cheryl Ching-Sy; AVP for Drama Ali Nokom-Dedicatoria; and Executive Producer Arlene Pilapil.
