On November 4, Radio and TV personalities DJ Chacha and Lourd De Veyra voiced their opinion on the reports confirming the 7.7% inflation rate in the Philippines for October 2022.
During their Radyo Singko program, DJ Chacha reported the 7.7% inflation rate with advice about getting creative to save up.
“Pero totoo ‘yun no, we have to be creative. Ang inflation rate ay 7.7% ngayong Oktubre. Kaya po sa aming mga kapatid na nakikinig, wag na po kayong magtaka kapag punta kayo ng–pumunta kayo ng last week sa grocery, tapos pagbalik ninyo ngayon, ‘Ha? ‘Yan na ‘yung presyo?'”
She then detailed her family’s experience with the increasing cost of necessities, comparing it to ‘gold.’
“Nakakaloka talaga minsan. Sabi nga ng nanay ko ngayon pag namamalengke, presyo ngayon ng gulay, ginto. Talagang Golden Era, welcome to the Golden Era. Hindi lahat kasi nagtataasan kasi.”
De Veyra responded by saying, “Alam mo Cha, dapat nagkakaisa tayo, unity.”
Their reactions toward the inflation rate trended on social media.
Former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Justin Dizon quoted the tweet with a caption of his reaction.

According to reports, the October 2022 inflation rate showed a 0.8% increase to 7.7% from September 2022, which had 6.9%.
According to experts, the inflation rate was due to the increasing costs of goods such as food and petroleum.
According to the data from the Philippines Statistics Authority, the last time the inflation rate went beyond 7.5% was in December 2008, wherein the country’s inflation rate reached 7.8%.
