On November 21, music artist August Wahh discussed the changes she experienced when she signed with Careless Music.
At the media conference for Careless Music’s new artists, which LionhearTV covered, Wahh cited the change in the business aspect of her music.
“Not in a creative sense. I’ll still play [but] in a business sense, sure.”
She also shared her expectations now that she’s part of the music label.
“I’m expecting to put myself out there more– and have a community and just be part of something.”
Wahh also detailed her background in music, noting that she has been training with her dad since she was four.
Wahh shared, “I wouldn’t have stuck with it if I didn’t like it. I had fun with it, for sure. Initially, it was just fun, like playing. And then [come] college, when I took up music, and then I got into a band, and that’s where things got kind of serious like getting gigs and stuff, I guess, the demand for it.”
She then recounted the moment wherein she really began pursuing music.
“I got asked to open for Erykah Badu when she came here, and I was like freaking out. I was freaking out, I didn’t know what to do, but I did it anyway.”
As for her musical influences, Wahh listed artists such as Robert Glasper, Neosoul, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, and Lauren Hill.
The singer expressed, “I don’t know if you can hear it in my music, but I love Jazz. You know, I grew up listening to Robert Glasper, Neosoul as well, Erykah Badu, of course, Jill Scott, Lauren Hill, but I try to incorporate that, but I still like to play like on my own and see more–see where my music goes when I do it.”
Wahh is one of the three music artists that ‘Careless Music’ signed three new artists under their growing music label.
Destiny Rogers and the indie band SOS also signed their music deal with Careless Music.
